Video Doorbell

Cyber Monday has come and gone. Those packages are on the way and so are the people looking to steal those packages.

Video doorbell systems have become popular to prevent this kind of theft.  In addition you can see who is at your door when you are not there, check on the kids when they are coming home from school, or just see what’s going on outside.

Video doorbells can be integrated to many security systems or be a standalone app on your smart phone.  For more information on the best product for you please contact your security provider.

New Advances in Cellular Technology

Remember when the first cell phones came out?  There have been many advances in cellular technology that our cell phones have now become mini computers for our day to day lives.  Cellular technology also affects other technology mainly security systems.

Though the security industry tries to keep on top of the newest and latest technology, it is important to know if your current system is compatible with the technology in your area.  We have gone from 4G to LTE to very soon 5G. Some of the older systems and even some within the last few years may become obsolete as 5G becomes available.

How do you know if your system is compatible?  By doing your weekly system check.  A communication fault will appear on your alarm keypad if it is not.  Contact your security provider immediately to fix the problem and upgrade as necessary.

Check Up For Your Security System

How do you know that your security system is working? Are your cameras picking up the images you need? Is your DVR recording?  Security equipment needs to get a frequent “check up” to assure it is working correctly.  It is important that home and business owners do frequent “check ups” on equipment and inform your security provider when repairs are needed.

1.  Check your security system weekly and before a trip or holiday.

2.  Cameras can be damaged by the weather, movement, electrical surges, during construction, or even just being old.  Check your cameras routinely that they are working.

3.  DVRs can run out of hard drive space.  Check your DVRs for hard drive space and that they are recording.

4.  Residential owners check your smoke detectors at least twice a year.  This regularly happens during daylight savings time.

5.  Business owners work with your local ordinances for your fire alarm system checks and your alarm system provider.

Most importantly when something is not working please let your security provider know so we can fix it.

Maintenance packages are always available.  Please call Jeff Sample if you are interested 847-471-5670.
